DIY Beauty Tips

An essential oil is a concentrated oil containing volatile aroma compounds from a given plant. An oil is “essential” in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant. Essential oils do not as a group need to have any specific chemical properties in common, beyond conveying characteristic fragrances.

Certain essential oils (such as lavender) are antiseptic in nature. Some of them have lipids that the skin can use efficiently for hydration (avocado, for instance). Oil itself doesn’t clog your pores. Dried skin can become trapped in oil if the oil in question is dry-ish and becomes gummy, which can lead to pore-blocking, but a fairly pure oil won’t clog pores in and of itself.

Things to do to keep pores from blocking:

1. Wash your face fairly often (twice or so a day, unless you have super sensitive skin, in which case do so once a day or once every other day).Beauty Tips

2. Exfoliate at least once a week if you have pores that block easily or super dry, flaky skin, at least twice a month otherwise.argan oil for face

3. Don’t use super heavy, oily, or sticky concealers or foundations.skin care cream2

4. Moisturize every day, making sure your moisturizer is not too heavy for your skin type and has a sunscreen in it. (Exfoliating makes skin even more sun sensitive, as it has removed the outer, tougher layer of your skin.)

Natural Oil’s For Skin Care

  • Raw honey (can be used as a mask or even as a gentle face wash — just wet your face with warm water and scoop out a little bit.) Honey prohibits bacteria growth (so it’s a food that truly can keep forever), and has even been proven to speed wound healing partly due to its natural hydrogen peroxide content, which is very cool. I like raw honey especially because it includes the pollen and propolis which are exfoliating, and it hasn’t been heated or filtered, so the full benefits of the honey’s natural state are retained.

  • Lush’s “Angels on Bare Skin” scrub — ground almonds, kaolin clay, and lavender.

  • Coconut oil. Smear it on your face after washing, let it sink in for a bit, then towel off the excess before you head out the door. Also works on cuticles.

  • Argan oil. I bought a little bottle of Argan oil at Whole Foods to use on my cuticles, face and hair. A little goes a long way, and my face didn’t seem to like it, but it’s great for my fingers and for the ends of my hair.Argan oil for skin & hair

Defeat Your Age With Some Helpful Tips!!

Aging change our skin’s appearance, loosen the skin texture and many more things. We all wish to look younger in our life and want to defeat it but there are many factors on which we don’t have any control like depletion of estrogen leading to sagging of skin or give you a particular bone structure based on the genetic. There are many other factors on which if we work regularly we can easily defeat the aging.

UV exposure is the major factor responsible for skin-aging. It can damages elastin and causes a loss of collagen leading to drooping, jawline loss along with wrinkles. Skin discoloration and texture roughness are some other things that can also occur due to sun. So avoid exposure to sun, if required cover your skin with some cloth or use sun screen creams etc.

Skin Texture

Rejuvenation via exercising makes our skin breathing i.e. tighten our neck and face skin texture. Some of them are Pilates which gives you awareness of your skin as we all know that bad posture can lead to many health problems which in turn lead to aging. Adding of Yoga, Swimming & running etc in our daily routine can keep you fit and also keeps your heart in good state.

In addition, having a balanced diet, consumption of water and losing some of the bad habits can also help you. There are many beauty products which when used in best way can help you in gaining the natural texture of skin. Argan oil is one such oil that when used improves skin firmness & elasticity. It is a rich source of Vitamin E, along with omega 3, 6 & 9 which are responsible for rejuvenating the hydrolipidic film (skin’s natural barrier) & lock moisture in skin cells, also rejuvenates elastin & collage essential in lessening the skin’s aging process.

Argan Oil

Many American and European companies are selling Argan oil that is old and long past its lifespan. I know because I’ve sampled it. Sheer Argan’s moroccan argan oil, on the other hand, is fresh, pure and free of any “extra” ingredients.

We have always known that exercise is healthy. It’s good for the heart and if you exercise on a regular basis you will most likely live longer. But recently, we also found out that exercise can keep you feeling and looking younger.

The Producers of Forbes Living TV wanted to find out more about this and how it works. Well, one of the signs of youth is tight skin and when you exercise regularly your muscles and skin tighten significantly.

You can work on specific areas with weights and Pilates like the hips and butt and bustline. You can also tighten your neck and face with exercise. Forget about that facelift get out and try exercising four times a week. Certain exercises are more helpful than other. Take a look at the exercises below recommended for feeling and looking younger.

  • Pilates-through Pilates you gain awareness of your body such as how you stand and sit. The more aware of these things the more you will work on them. Bad posture is one reason people get a pot belly. You will also notice a stronger core and better flexibility once you have been doing pilates for a couple of months.
  • Yoga-yoga is known for tightening muscles, increasing mobility and relieving stress. You will see and feel a difference in your appearance when you do yoga on a regular basis.
  • Running-Getting rid of the stress from the day also helps you look more youthful, and running will help you achieve this. Running also tightens many muscles including neck and face muscles.Running
  • Swimming-this is one of the best exercises for tightening up your body. When you swim you are using just about every muscle in your body. You will notice a difference within a month. Your neck and face should show some tightening along with your arms and legs.

When you swim you should try different types of strokes that incorporate the legs, chest and arms.

You should incorporate a healthy diet along with a good exercise program. The things you eat show up on your body as wrinkles, sagging skin and cellulite. Forbes Living TV suggests giving an exercise program a try for a few months and see if it makes a difference before going under the knife or trying another serum.

Drinking Water Can Help Removing Forehead Wrinkles

I used to have a big Asian skincare routine and I actually found when I simplified it I saw better results. Asian skin care are usually big on hydration and nourishing the skin.

Drinking water and staying hydrated has made the biggest improvement in my Forehead Wrinkles. I can tell immediately if I am dehydrated by the lines in my skin.

While you are right about severe dehydration causing severe symptoms, I wouldn’t so strictly say it has no effect on skin before it has a direct one on your brain.

When you stop drinking water and a body feels a lack of it, it concentrates urine so you’d pee in dark yellow-orange, smelly urine. Next step is to extract water from the body cells… skin included. This is done so you have enough volume of liquid in your veins. And loss of water from brain cells happens as an absolute last measure, when the body can’t do anything to stop it.

There is a test we do, called skin turgor – pinching slightly the skin atop of the back of your hand, or belly. If you’re dehydrated, a kind of lump forms and stays for a second or two. If your not, the skin goes back to the way it was instantly. And this happens way before a person develops any noticeable “brain” symptoms.

So, drink water, folks!

July Favourites Makeup Addictions:

This month I’ve really been enjoying:

  • Innisfree Long Wear Cushion– not too heavy, just the right amount of coverage I’m looking for (covering redness). It is fairly long wear, has a touch of shine control and is very convenient for touch ups.
  • Guerlain Maxi Lash Mascara– I have come to the end of my full sized tube and I’ve started on a deluxe sample I have. I really like the formula and would repurchase, but I can’t justify the price for something I replace every 3-6 months. I’ll be sad when it is gone.
  • TonyMoly Tangerine Whitening Hand Cream– I love this hand cream. I used so much hand cream in winter because my skin tends to be very dry, especially around my finger joints and elbows. This is super cute and I love the fragrance.
  • Ciate Chinchilla Nail Polish– I’m just loving this colour on my nails at the moment. I’ve done 5 manis with this colour in the last month. If I ever manage to finish the bottle (which may actually happen!) I will definitely repurchase
  • Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer– I’m just about finished the travel size. I like the matte feeling and I find it really helps with the longevity of my makeup. I will repurchase once I have worked through my other primers, or once it becomes summer again (It’s perfect in summer).
  • Argan Oil By SheerArgan -Argan oil works great for me with OCM. I wish it weren’t so expensive. I also mix a few drops in with my leave-in conditioner. Works great!

Also this Month, As a token of appreciation towards its new customers for all their love and trust, Sheerargan has now come out with a sizzling offer. For a limited time only, you can avail 10% off extra on Argan oil at Sheer Argan and also take advantage of Free Shipping across all orders.

Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin

Last week, I received an email from a reader enquiring about dry skin care routine. here are the few lines from her message:

So I’ve been having a battle with my skin for a few years now and after a good 5 years battling cystic acne (which I now know was from using colorstay foundation) I can’t seem to beat my dry skin! I’m 24 and I have sensitive skin which is dry with a very flaky chin and slightly flaky nose and forehead. My routine right now is rinsing my face with warm water in the morning, I wear sunscreen every day too. I use the OCM method with just argan oil in the night time and then put either Vaseline, avene rich compensating cream or lush skin drink on. I also use an exfoliating wash 2-3 times a week and I purchased FAB radiance pads today too.

dry skin

Here’s what I have suggested her:

I’d say skip the exfoliating wash. Physically exfoliating flaky skin tends to make it so much worse for me. It ends in a viscous cycle of scrubbing the flakes, things are good for a few hours and then even MORE flakes.

The FAB radiance pads seem to be ok and the AHAs will help exfoliate gently. However, some people say glycolic acid sorta burns, so I’d imagine it could sting a bit on the dry flaky parts. I’d suggest starting off slowly (1-2x a week) at first. And maybe even waiting until you get the really dry bits healed up before incorporating them into your routine.

At night, Use argan oil as SERUM before moisturizer after OCM and then put a thin layer of vaseline over that. It will help seal in moisturize over night and should help heal the really dry spots.

One thing I usually recommend is EltaMD intense moisturizer. It’s supposed to be a daytime friendly alternative to vaseline.
