Lots of anecdotal tradition in my family for using vitamin E for scars and skin repair. Oils have some occlusive properties, but primarily act as emollients. Therefore, I started using argan oil as a Serum before moisturizer and it helped my skin texture immensely. Since it’s a dry oil AFAIK, it doesn’t linger on the skin. It’s moisturizing and doesn’t cause pimples. I put them around my eyes. The only oil that doesn’t break me out.
Also I found that pure Argan oil can help people with mild acne as the oleic acid found in the oil helps promote healthy levels of sebum production.
Wouldn’t just pure argan oil from like Amazon be better? The 100ml bottles go a loooong way! And without colour and fragrance (those would be enough to break me out anyway).
So If you want to give argan oil a try, but you feel overwhelmed by sheer number of products out there. How can you make sure the oil you’re buying is good quality?
My sister and I did our research and painstakingly negotiated with dozens of Moroccan exporters to be able to supply our pure argan oil (aka Argania Spinosa) at an affordable price without gouging our customers (think Josie Maran prices! $96.00 for the exact same product!). Ultimately end up with Sheer Argan’s pure argan oil as our regular argan oil importer.

Sheer Argan used to extract argan oil in the old fashion way which involves water to separate the paste from the oil by squeezing the paste. This is not the only labor intensive step before getting to this point. this method involving water is not the best way mainly because it shortens the shelf life of the oil. Nowadays, we use mechanical extraction which produces a 100% pure Argan oil.
One thing I always say to my readers, whether they buy argan oil from Sheer argan or from somebody else is to ask when was produced and at what temperature to be stored. Josie Maran’s for example doesn’t tell you those things. One of my friend used to buy few bottles of argan oil from QVC when they have them on sale and they last 3 or 4 years she said. Here is the problem, mechanically pressed argan oil has a shelf life of up to 20 to 24 months.). It’s only during this period that you would benefit from all the argan nutrients. So the key here for producers to produce small/enough quantity and for the consumers to look for small companies which knows the product very well.
