Great Advice To Help Your Skin Care

My advice is nothing new, but I hope it will reinforce that what you’re already reading on this really does work.

  1. Wear a high quality, high SPF sunscreen every single day, no exceptions. Slather it on extra thick on your neck  décolletage, which frequently get ignored. Don’t forget your lips. Yes, even wear SPF in winter! Reapply frequently.
  2. In addition to wearing SPF, wear broad-brimmed hats & big sunglasses. Keep your skin out of the bright mid-day sun.sun glass
  3. Don’t do anything to your face that will damage your capillaries. Suffering a few un-squeezed blackheads in your 20s is so worth it to end up with porcelain skin in your 40s.
  4. Do not smoke  expect that your skin won’t eventually suffer the consequences. 🙂
  5. Get a great dermatologist early. Go often. Get everything checked out. If you don’t like your dermatologist, keep searching until you find one you like. I see mine twice a year.skin cream
  6. If your dermatologist recommends it, start a prescription retinoid as young as possible. I started using Retin-A in my early 20s, highly buffered. It’s like magic for me.
  7. Use the gentlest option available to you in every skincare category. The gentlest cleanser, toner, masque, lotion, natural oil (Argan Oil, coconut oil, etc ) etc. The idea is to avoid inflammation. Be gentle!arganoil
  8. Don’t hesitate to use Botox, IPL, professional peels, or anything else you need. Only under the supervision of a highly regarded, appropriately credentialed dermatologist, of course! Do it as soon as you see the need for it. Don’t wait for the situation to become dramatic  then expect your doc to work miracles.
  9. Eat mindfully. Take your omega-3s, and anything else recommended by your MD.

DIY Beauty Tips

An essential oil is a concentrated oil containing volatile aroma compounds from a given plant. An oil is “essential” in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant. Essential oils do not as a group need to have any specific chemical properties in common, beyond conveying characteristic fragrances.

Certain essential oils (such as lavender) are antiseptic in nature. Some of them have lipids that the skin can use efficiently for hydration (avocado, for instance). Oil itself doesn’t clog your pores. Dried skin can become trapped in oil if the oil in question is dry-ish and becomes gummy, which can lead to pore-blocking, but a fairly pure oil won’t clog pores in and of itself.

Things to do to keep pores from blocking:

1. Wash your face fairly often (twice or so a day, unless you have super sensitive skin, in which case do so once a day or once every other day).Beauty Tips

2. Exfoliate at least once a week if you have pores that block easily or super dry, flaky skin, at least twice a month otherwise.argan oil for face

3. Don’t use super heavy, oily, or sticky concealers or foundations.skin care cream2

4. Moisturize every day, making sure your moisturizer is not too heavy for your skin type and has a sunscreen in it. (Exfoliating makes skin even more sun sensitive, as it has removed the outer, tougher layer of your skin.)

Natural Oil’s For Skin Care

  • Raw honey (can be used as a mask or even as a gentle face wash — just wet your face with warm water and scoop out a little bit.) Honey prohibits bacteria growth (so it’s a food that truly can keep forever), and has even been proven to speed wound healing partly due to its natural hydrogen peroxide content, which is very cool. I like raw honey especially because it includes the pollen and propolis which are exfoliating, and it hasn’t been heated or filtered, so the full benefits of the honey’s natural state are retained.

  • Lush’s “Angels on Bare Skin” scrub — ground almonds, kaolin clay, and lavender.

  • Coconut oil. Smear it on your face after washing, let it sink in for a bit, then towel off the excess before you head out the door. Also works on cuticles.

  • Argan oil. I bought a little bottle of Argan oil at Whole Foods to use on my cuticles, face and hair. A little goes a long way, and my face didn’t seem to like it, but it’s great for my fingers and for the ends of my hair.Argan oil for skin & hair

July Favourites Makeup Addictions:

This month I’ve really been enjoying:

  • Innisfree Long Wear Cushion– not too heavy, just the right amount of coverage I’m looking for (covering redness). It is fairly long wear, has a touch of shine control and is very convenient for touch ups.
  • Guerlain Maxi Lash Mascara– I have come to the end of my full sized tube and I’ve started on a deluxe sample I have. I really like the formula and would repurchase, but I can’t justify the price for something I replace every 3-6 months. I’ll be sad when it is gone.
  • TonyMoly Tangerine Whitening Hand Cream– I love this hand cream. I used so much hand cream in winter because my skin tends to be very dry, especially around my finger joints and elbows. This is super cute and I love the fragrance.
  • Ciate Chinchilla Nail Polish– I’m just loving this colour on my nails at the moment. I’ve done 5 manis with this colour in the last month. If I ever manage to finish the bottle (which may actually happen!) I will definitely repurchase
  • Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer– I’m just about finished the travel size. I like the matte feeling and I find it really helps with the longevity of my makeup. I will repurchase once I have worked through my other primers, or once it becomes summer again (It’s perfect in summer).
  • Argan Oil By SheerArgan -Argan oil works great for me with OCM. I wish it weren’t so expensive. I also mix a few drops in with my leave-in conditioner. Works great!

Also this Month, As a token of appreciation towards its new customers for all their love and trust, Sheerargan has now come out with a sizzling offer. For a limited time only, you can avail 10% off extra on Argan oil at Sheer Argan and also take advantage of Free Shipping across all orders.

25 DIY Beauty Hacks Every Girl Should Know

1. For the love of god (and clean white pillowcases everywhere) never, ever, ever sleep in your makeup on.

Sleeping in your makeup can result in unnecessary exposure to the free radicals in th e environment, which the makeup holds on to,” says Dr. Schweiger. Read more

2. Use petroleum jelly/eye cream to remove eye makeup or correct a cat-eye gone wild instead of stinky chemical removers.

Coat your lids, then gently swab with a tissue.

3.  Exfoliate before shaving! Get a sugar scrub and do work on those scaly limbs.

Stay away from more sensitive skin, but for your legs, choose a sugar scrub: it’s strong enough to get the job done, leaving skin and body hair ready for a smooth shave.

4. Do not wash your hair everyday! Find a hairstyle you can wear “dirty” and learn to love dry shampoo!

Washing your hair everyday will strip it of natural oils that it needs to keep it healthy. My favorite go to unwashed hairstyle is a top knot bun. 🙂

5. Use your favorite bronzer as your eyeshadow too for a beautiful natural look in the summer or spring

In fact, lip liner and eye liner are made of the same ingredients and the only reason they tell you not to mix them is if you have already used it. If you put some eye liner on your eye and then use it on your lips too that is not safe. But you can use eye shadow, blush, shimmers and powders wherever you want. I actually bought a shimmer powder suppose to be for your face but I use it as eye shadow almost everyday I love it!

6. Don’t buy brush cleanser. Buy a spray bottle and some cheap toner and spray it on makeup brushes for a very effective makeup brush cleanser/sanitizer.

7. Small drop of eye makeup remover (very small drop!!) in mascara that is drying up. Makes it last like a week longer.

8. Exfoliating Lip scrub made of olive oil and sugar. Rub it all over and wash off. Lick off whatever remains. Tastes amazing, does the job, and is about 1/100 the cost of Lush’s lip scrub.

9. Hair serums are bullshit – Use coconut oil. It’s natural, healthier, makes your hair shiny, bouncy and more manageable if your hair is naturally coarse.

if your hair is naturally curly and you’re wearing a straight style – ONLY STRAIGHTEN AND WASH YOUR HAIR ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. It’s less drying and you are doing less damage. Wear a shower cap.

10. Scarves are okay for spring and summer. Cute way to add pop and sophistication to any outfit.

11. Brush the hair gently in the morning, if there a tangles deal with them first then brush through, to avoid hurting her if there are tangles, hold the strand above the knot to avoid pulling the scalp.

12. Curl your lashes – really opens your eyes up and looks dainty. You can set the curl with a clear mascara.
13. Take care of your hands. Keep your nails nice, even if they aren’t long, and use a cuticle pusher to keep your cuticles at bay. Use hand cream so your skin is soft and smooth.
14. Ditto with your feet. Keep your toenails well-shaped and not too long, and keep your cuticles pushed down. You can do super easy pedicures yourself at home, for cheap.
if your feet are dry and not soft, right before bed rub Vaseline on them and put on some old socks and sleep with them on. Do it for a few nights and your feet will be magically super soft.

15 I love using facial masks and some of them can be a bit drying. Before applying most masks, I massage my face with coconut oil.

It allows the mask to do its job without drying my skin out. Don’t forget to put coconut oil on your lips as well. I find it moisturizes my lips without drying them out. Most lip balms dry my lips out, even the “natural” ones.

16. I sometimes use a face mask made from turmeric mixed with enough yogurt to form a paste.

This mask always leaves my skin rosy and glowing and smooth but be warned– it will stain anything that isn’t skin or tile.

 17.  Always wash your face at night, no matter how tired you are.

Basically throughout the day, even if you don’t wear makeup (or especially if you do), your face still gets “dirty”. Then sleeping on a dirty face = dirty pillow = clogged pores/acne. Maybe not to that extent for everyone, because I know plenty of people who don’t wash their face at night and their skin doesn’t look bad. For me though, this cleared any and all acne problems I was having. Hope that makes sense!

18.Let you’re skin breathe, try and take some time each week with just clean moisturized skin with no products.

I know it’s not feasible for everyone but a good pair of sunglasses if going in public helps

19.  Get the proper lighting set up in your makeup area, if you can.

You want light evenly around you and sunlight is best. I see so many women wearing either too much or the wrong shade of foundation.

20. Use Coconut oil as moisturizer.

I stopped using my expensive moisturizers and switched to coconut oil. Since then I’ve had no drying issues and no breakouts. And my skin looks great. Coconut oil is a natural antiviral, so it really is good for any skin type.

21 Make up is not at all a way to show you care about yourself.

Make sure you are taking good care of yourself. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, avoid processed foods. Stay hydrated, avoid sugary beverages. Get enough sleep at night, figure out what the right amount of sleep is for you. Exercise on a regular basis, it doesn’t have to be super intense it can be things like gardening or going for a walk, just move.

22. Go with Natural Oils for Hair

I don’t put anything in my hair…ever. I wash it with literally just water, every other day maybe. The natural oils (read my previous post about natural oils I used ) make it look amazing. I can do cool stuff like twirl it around my finger to get some curls, and I can braid it into a giant bohemianesque braid that stays all by itself (no conditioner either).

I used to wash and condition every day, and would straighten it til it was perfect but due to a guy I’ve been dating the past year and a half, I’ve learned to love how it looks naturally. And other people love it too 🙂

23. Do not compare yourself

I wasted years trying and amending myself and the best version of myself was always here all along! Easier said than done though. I now compare in a healthy way by learning and seeing what a girl did with her hair and seeing if it’d suit me instead of getting down about it all.

24.Go with Green Energy Drinks

Learn to love raw veggies before you’re 25. Eat meat and veggies and please, Rora6, if you even think of being a vegetarian, imagine what you will look like 30 lbs heavier for the duration! Learn more green food recipes here.

25. Never start smoking!

Smoking one cigarette interferes with your body’s healing ability for two weeks.

Perfect Skin Care Tips by Various Beauty Bloggers

I am always on the hunt for perfect skin care ideas by beauty bloggers that I’ve never heard. The beauty blogger in me is always up for sharing these insights with other beauty lovers. Check out these beauty tips by bloggers following me. If you have any beauty idea that can help my readers, please share it via comment box below.

#1. How to get rid of blackheads:- Blackheads are tricky. They come from dirt getting into open pores. Best thing you can do is go get extractions ( washing your face, steam it then use a metal stick to poke out each black head) then start using a proper toner and moisturizer.

If you don’t want to get extractions, use a good exfoliate once a week, followed by a mud mask. It should open up your pores then detoxify them.

#2. How to make skin lighter:- Use an exfoliating oil-free cleanser, astringent toner , vitamin c dark spot removing serum (for evening and brightening your skin-tone), an oil-free moisturizer and follow with an oil-free sunscreen. Make sure you use a more abrasive exfoliate once a week to even out your skin tone.

#3. How to get rid of blemish spot after acne:- Scaring is very common after acne, try a vitamin C serum, and make sure you always use sunscreen since the sun will make them worse.

#4. A good body moisturizer :- With body moisturizers you can use most things, try to get something with Vitamin E and Argan Oil. You have to like the texture of what you’re using, so make sure you feel it first.

#5. When to use accutane:- Are you VERY oily? If so you can use accutane. It will make your skin dry and dehydrated, so make sure you use a hydrating enough moisturizer and something like midnight recovery concentrate to balance out your moisture barrier.

#6. Good weekly regimen to take care of eczema on face:- Don’t exfoliate using a physical exfoliant, get something that exfoliates on a chemical level, or something fruit enzyme based. This will gently remove the dead skin without scrubbing and irritating further. Use a very gentle cleanser without alcohol, a milky toner, and a hydrating moisturizer. If you want to go in further send me a message and I’ll give you an exact list of products I would recommend.

#7. How to get rid of scars because of chicken pox:- Are you oily? For the scaring use a vitamin c serum for dark spots. Use an oil free cleanser and lotion, that should help with your excess oiliness. Also if the scarring is also texture and not just discoloration, make sure you’re using an abrasive scrub once a week.

#8. How to get rid of sunburn:– Aloe vera is pretty much the best thing that you can do, also shea butter is great for that kind of thing.

#9. How to get rid of stretchmarks:- Stretchmarks can never be removed by beauty products. You can prevent them by using a hydrating body moisturizer. But strechmarks are a white scar, so lack of pigment. Laser is the only treatment. Sorry.

#10. Improve Skin Elasticity:– Using a serum. Something with hylaronic acid is great.

#11. How to get rid of yeast :-  Use a non-scented cleanser because yeast can oftan spawn from over perfumed products. Make sure you shower as soon as you can after sweating.

#12. How to correct thinning hair:– This is tough. That’s a genetic issue, there are scalp treatments that help to create a good environment for hair growth. But if your mother’s father is bald, you probably will be too.  If you use a lot of hair gels, try to give your scalp time to breath, that can also cause thinning.

Routine Skin Care Need To Be Done Twice A Day

1) The broken skin: Apply a layer of polysporin or neosporin (topical cream that promotes rapid healing) on your face three times a week (I recommend doing it in the evening) until the skin heals – space it out.skin care 2) Wash with a mild cream cleanser every morning and evening, not a bar soap, not anything with bursting beads or grains, a cream cleanser with salicylic acid, Clearasil makes some really great ones.skin cream   3) Once all open wounds have healed begin acne cream, benzoyl works for some people but a sulfur based cream will be more effective, again, Clearasil makes this. Use the acne cream only once a day, again I suggest in the evening so it has time to sink in over night.skin care cream2 4) You need to moisturise son! Your face is fucking dry, so get a gentle oil free moisturiser, one made for acne prone skin (make sure this doesn’t have acne fighting products in it however). Use this at least four mornings a week but also use your discretion, four times a week may be too often.skin care cream 5) Don’t touch your face.skin care cream1 6) Sunscreen all the time, because acne treatment will make your skin more susceptible to sun burns.skin care creams 7) Your skin will never be 100% clear, but neither does it have to be this bad. skin care cream3 8) If you miss washing your face one day don’t panic, and don’t double up on products the next day either.skin care cream4 9) If your moisturiser, cleanser, cream, etc… doesn’t seem to be working (and give it at least four weeks before arriving at that conclusion) switch it up. Try a different brand.skin care cream5
